About Me

Laura B
I am a librarian at the University of Waterloo in Ontario. Although I am a liaison librarian responsible for Math, CS and Physics and Astronomy collections I spend a lot of my time researching, creating and coordinating the development of instructional media. Using screencasts and other multimedia productions I am trying to enable our library to successfully reach our online users in meaningful ways to teach them about library services and information literacy skills. In other words I am interested in online instructional technologies in general and how libraries can leverage these to reach our users. Recently, I was given the opportunity to volunteer at the Charles Darwin Foundation Research Station located in Puerto Ayora in the Galapagos archipelagos. It was an amazing adventure. I worked on a number of projects including upgrades to their catalogue and records, providing reference services to the station staff and volunteers and writing status reports. It's was a lot to pack into 10 weeks!
